Corrections Policy

California changes its laws every year, and careful writers still make mistakes. When a guide is wrong or out of date we want to hear about it, and we correct it in the open.

Report an error

Send us an email that includes:

  • The link to the guide
  • What you think is wrong or has changed
  • The code section, bill number or official source, if you have it

What we do with your report

  1. We check the point against the current text of the law and any source you sent.
  2. If the guide is wrong, we correct it and add a dated entry to its change log explaining what changed.
  3. If the law changed, we update the guide and its last-verified date and record the new effective date.
  4. Typos and formatting fixes that do not change the meaning are made without a log entry.

We aim to review reports within a few business days. Reports about a law that has just taken effect go to the front of the line.

What we cannot do

We cannot advise on your own case or review documents in a legal matter. For that, contact a lawyer licensed in California.
